ROE-073 eng sub i have your eyes and they are my condemnation
Ryu wastes away. What at first glance seems like the fog of depression or simple sadness is actually an abyss of corrosive self-loathing.
As he drowns, his mother, a constant and radiant sun, fights to keep him afloat. She is the visible joy, always attentive, always ready to endure his barbs of indifference, his insolence, the raw, icy bad attitude that contrasts with her own luminosity. She knows her son is broken, and that's why she endures.
But her brightness is a facade. Deep down, she is also a broken fragment. Her husband treats her with contempt, blaming her for every shadow in Ryu's soul. Both mother and son are in a spiral of pain, but they react differently: while Ryu sinks deeper and deeper into self-loathing, she clings to the idea of hope, that unconditional love can be the cure, throwing herself into being the perfect mother to make him feel valued. One day, the precarious balance is shattered. Ryu bumps into a schoolmate. After a brief chat, the other confesses the fear he inspires, tells him that his eyes are intimidating, terrifying... and that they are his mother's eyes. The truth hits him with icy violence. Ryu's self-loathing doesn't dissolve: it transforms. Now he has a target, an object to direct all that poison at: his mother. She becomes the tangible root of all his misery, the source of a face that inspires fear in others. Determined and with brutal clarity, he heads home with a single, sinister purpose: to make her pay for what she has in her eyes.
